Kind of amazing watching people (on this site!) start to whitewash Trump within a year of him leaving.

After how long we spent predicting liberals would rehabilitate him when the next republican bad guy came along lol

It's not whitewashing him. The inaction by the democrats is being compared to the program bonuses and stimulus of the last year. Even if he would have done nothing without the pressure of the election coming up, it still is a fact that people were better off with those things happening.

Obviously his marginalization of LGBTQ people and immigrants was fucking horrendous. Trump wasn't good.

Trump’s COVID stimulus was one of the largest upwards transfers of wealth in US history. Biden’s was a downwards transfer. Trump also literally spread public health misinformation such as anti-masking and promoted quack cures. Biden, while often sending mixed messages, is pushing vaccine mandates and is tying covid relief federal funding in medical systems to vaccine mandates. Trump opposes this. All of the programs that ended under Biden like evictions were scheduled to end even sooner under Trump. It was literally Trump's judges who shot down Biden's eviction ban!

Saying Trump handled covid better is factually false and serves only to whitewash him. You can criticize Biden without carrying water for Trump.

I'm just pointing out that people were doing better with the stimulus and program bonuses. I did not see any downward transfer of wealth with Biden, so I'm not sure what that is about, but yes obviously Trump is a capitalist pig.

I don't know why you're acting like I'm a maga guy. I'm just pointing out that program bonuses and stimulus were good for people. We had them last year, we don't have them now.

Obviously, we wouldn't have them now anyways. But that's just the way it turned out.

My family literally got more stimulus money from the Trump admin, like that's what it looks like on the ground dude, that's what folks remember if they even remember anything at all

And why should they remember anything else? If your day to day is a struggle, any relief from that is a positive.

Even in the post you're responding to they aren't even telling us why Biden is good, it's just some obfuscated improvements that will never effect anyone.

I think there's a real issue with people instinctually defending democrats here, and in the western left in general. If you think Joe Biden is bad, then you must think Trump was good horse shit.

No, but I think for a short time I was given a bit of a reprieve which I have yet to see coming from the Biden administration. This doesn't mean Trump was good, it just means Biden is fucking abysmal.

Like you can argue it all you want, but I'm just talking about the general feeling of a person being in poverty under Biden. Last year was better than this one from that standpoint.

I understand that Trump wasn't the cause of this, and it'd be fucked anyways. But the way things lined up, it made it feel like that.
