What Lenin did was make Marxism more aware of the effects and relations of imperialism and geopolitics, adapting Marx's view that the wealthiest core would be the first to have a revolution to better fit the emerging realities of nationalism, fascism, WW1 and placing increased agency at the hands of the colonized nations of the world and the global proletariat as a whole.
This scares white comfortable chauvinists of all political stripes. There were literally a small number of libs questioning how places like China and Cuba have been handling a few key things better than their own liberal governments and Ultras preferred to shit on communists instead.

The parent comments being were long explanations for libs explaining how socialist democracies worked for libs saying that Cuba and China are authoritarian countries with no voting rights and baby libs figuring out political economy.
Ultra comes in just to shit on AES states for no reason while some libs were grappling with how the CPC was doing a number of things better than Western countries.
If there's a better way to deal with ultras please share it. I think Communists should be as present on social media as much as the far right are.
