    I lean towards the idea that if you both:

    A: believe that Biden is a consequential harm reduction compared to Trump, and

    B: live in a state that has a chance of going either way,

    then you should vote for Biden.

    I keep going back and forth on A, but I live in a state that has no chance of flipping, so I at least most likely won't vote for Biden.

      i also constantly flip back and forth on this. on one hand, not voting for the SLIGHT harm-reductionist candidate shows privilege because at least under 4 years of the segregationist you get rainbow capitalism instead of blatantly homophobic capitalism, but on the other hand, biden is literally what gave us trump and he's a fucking abhorrent racist rapist segregationist piece of shit.

        It gets even more complicated when you take into account that Trump so far has appeared to have unintentionally worsened America's position as a global hegemon, and when you consider which creates a less unfavorable situation for the left to grow and organize.

        I've basically decided that the complicated utilitarian calculus isn't worth doing when my vote doesn't matter anyway.
