My kid doesn't like steak because it's too chewy, but she went to town on some seared tuna when she was like 2 and a half. She's also eaten sushi grade tuna before, but only on one occasion.
I would eat tuna straight from the little cans when I was in the single digit years through teenage. I upgraded to the (wasteful) pouches in my twenties though. Strangely, I don't like tuna sandwiches or anything that dilutes the tuna. :shrug-outta-hecks:

If it's too chewy it's not being cooked right. It's either way too rare or more likely, overcooked.
I mean it's too chewy for a child. The same applies for all meat that has a grain.
Ah, That's why you slice across the grain, not with it. It has a real effect on tenderness.
But jeez if the kid doesn't even have a full set of teeth yet, then jeez. Applesauce was invented for a reason.
Lol I mean this was at a restaurant so I don't know what to say. Maybe she just likes tuna more? I know I do.
