4chan wasn't always fascist, anonymous is a holdover from the days they were an idiosyncratic strain of anti-authoritarian

the homophobia was pretty standard middle school shit of calling anything you don’t like gay

This is also the website where "let the f*gs marry" was a popular meme back when gay marriage was controversial.

Slurs and rights for everyone, I guess.

This, plus serious bigots consciously using it as a pipeline to fascism, is what eventually changed it. I remember seeing screenshots of posts on actual Stormfront/similar sites going into detail about how to pull people on 4chan from "that's gay" or South Park-style black jokes to more tenacious homophobia and white supremacy.

I think they've always been reactionary, but I think they had a more libertarian stance before going further right/anti-sjw.

Anonymous was a 4chan thing in like 2007-10, but the group split up, got arrested, and other people pick up the name from time to time. This could be a random hacker just claiming the name.

Anonymous isn't exactly an organized groups, it's just random edgy techbro dorks that sometimes get together to hack stuff and like pretending they are revolutionaries or some shit. Buuut some of the occasionally do shit like this, which is cool.

95% of actual organization took place on IRC and other sites, 4chan was mostly just used as a horde to run any tools made for them or take credit for other stuff.
