      Two months ago:

Russia is already going on an offensive all across the front, and will likely capture Avdiivka in the near future which will be a debacle comparable to Bakhmut for Ukraine.

yogthos said multiple time that Russia was probably going to launch an offensive this winter to profit of the hardened ground and dwindling western support.

I wonder if a new Russian offensive could risk solidifying more western support for Ukraine again though.

I'm not too concerned about that possibility. I mean, sure, the few libs that still care are gonna franticly cry their lungs out at their government asking for support to Ukraine, but the western ruling class is donne with this war. They took the hint that they were losing no matter what and now want to cut it out to limit the damage from this humiliations of a proxy war, plus their supplies are running dry because the western deindustrialized economies can't keep up with modern warfare with fellow industrial power so even if they wanted to, they wouldn't be able to supply Ukraine for much longer anyway.

no, they send billions in equipment already, including the hyped pratriotic missles, only be the destroyed by russia.

they don't have as much stuff to send nor they would given that is going nowhere, ukraine is scraping the bottom of the barrel, their most eager troops i.e the fascists are done, drafting people that don't want to fight. even money has been cut short due to rampant corruption in ukraine gov.

they still have their sights on south china sea and most importantly the middle east situation is brewing they changed their focus to that

just like most people here though, eventually ukraine would be left to its own luck to deal with russia alone

Western support for Ukraine has diminishing returns in terms of translating into more aid, mainly helps shield us from people gettinng mad about COVID aftermath + the war's broader consequences economically

“As ground freezes” idk much about military strategy I admit, but what does this add? Is that a special circumstance in military operations?

you can wage war in the summer or the winter, but during the spring/fall, you get mud season in eastern europe. so everyone sensible digs in where they are and waits it out until the ground dries/freezes and you can go again.

It elevates the difficulty of digging defensive positions from "laborious" to "sysyphean", which means that an army put on the retreat will likely stay on the retreat.
