Between civil asset forfeiture, video evidence of cops planting drugs/guns, and video evidence of cops harming people for amusement, it makes you realize that false consciousness really is harder than diamond in the USA
It's not like the people suffering are 100% a hated minority, Americans are watching previews of their own brutalization and cheering
Yeah the funny part is they do this shit to white people pretty freely
If you support cops not only are you really racist you are also enormously stupid
it's not even thinking that cops are all bad in a utilitarian sense (because even they way we have them now they still occasionally do useful things) but they are pretty much free to do whatever they want with impunity which should bother you even if you share their politics because a lot of the time they use that liberty to abuse people
I think there isn't so much false consciousness as there is lack of a better alternative and forceful/violent repression of any proposed alternative.
The police are the front line soldiers of capital and I'd say 80% of people understand that. Definitely anyone who's ever interacted with police outside of at their church or when they're the ones calling (and even then...)
