Then again, would we expect anything else?

Snowden posted this article on twitter and like 1/2 the replies are people implying that it's justified, or at least not a big deal, because "Assange helped Trump get elected," once again proving these psychos are 100% fine with US imperialism and extrajudicial treachery, as long as its done in the name of their magic blue side of goodness.

This also refutes a lot of the common narratives about the way the CIA operates. Assange wasn't an active threat to them anymore and they still wanted to kill him out of spite. They try so hard to sell the image on TV and movies that all this shit is run through a massive process in some dark room full of dozens of computer screens that track every possible threat to the country when in reality it was a couple of guys at a table trying to work out the logistics of a murdering snitches like a mob movie.

There is no indication that the most extreme measures targeting Assange were ever approved, in part because of objections from White House lawyers,

That's limited hangout speak for "we actually tried like 6 or 7 assassination attempts and they all failed embarrassingly"

"OK, we know for a fact that the CIA did bad shit in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and now the 10s, no one involved was arrested, and there was no reform, but they aren't still doing that stuff, and you're a conspiracy theorist nutjob if you think they are."
