He invaded Finland, the Baltic states, Moldova, gave assistance to Spain, China, and Korea, created socialist governments in eastern Europe, and blockaded West Berlin. What more did they want him to do? Declare War on the UK in the 1920s? was the hope of extending soviet power further west not basically destroyed by the Red Army's defeat in Poland, and the failure of all revolutions in central europe?
Most Trotskyists remained loyal to the USSR project and helped push for more internationalist attitudes. Trotsky just kinda really wanted to have Russian style revolutions everywhere which just didn't happen.
After that he just focused on South America and whining about Stalin.

In the Continuation War a halfhearted Finnish soviet was sorta declared but forgotten about in no time and never pursued. But yeah 100% agreed. Stalin did what Trotsky was complaining about, but just didn't get halted in Poland and proceed to have a mental breakdown like Trotsky did
