Nowadays they just greenlight shows about guys getting isekai'd into worlds where they can act out their pedo fantasies, and get a bunch of weird fucking nerds on the internet to defend them. I legitimately think that entire industry is on a crash-course with The One Show that gets the entire industry so stigmatized that it never recovers. They've been really fucking pushing it as of late.

Idk man interspecies reviewers exists and while it isn't without its criticism it definitely didn't tank the industry. I don't think a single anime would be enough, it would have to be that the trend itself gets so bad that the average anime watcher has nothing they feel comfortable watching for at least a season or two

On a related note, I finally actually watched Little Miss Sunshine the other day and realized what a great scene the girls' beauty contest and Olive's routine in particular was. Bunch of girls doing some questionable dance routines, at least one literal pedophile in the audience, probably one on stage MCing, and then Olive does her routine and that one old lady judge somehow decides she's crossed a line. Good shit folks. 👏
Forgive the awkward phrasing on this one, but in a pretty direct way, capitalism rewards the type of personality that has absolutely no problem with any exploitation, or even enjoys it. Beyond the luck and ability required to be among the richest on the planet, you also have to be willing to be an awful person.
