Apparently all the labour movement has is q word that predates the modern labour movement by like 100 years (same meaning and context too).

what the fuck is wrong with that site? i can dismiss one person saying something idiotic and obviously wrong, but then there's replies with selfie PFPs and hammer and sickle display names who are like "woah that actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it thanks for making me a more educated Leftist :)" I get why you guys say everything is CIA, I'd probably say the same thing if I spent time on Twitter.

Twitter is a cesspool of the worst, most extremist opinions you can think of. I've seen everything from Islamic theocrats who despise Muslims but also want Sharia law in america to tankies who think communism killed 100 million people and actually support that.

Yeah, but what I was referencing was a Taliban account where far-right westerners replied shit like "Islam is right about women" on his tweets, but when he showed a fake map of Europe becoming Muslim dominated by 2050 they got pissed off.

:my-hero: hope they don't wear glasses

These types are the fucking weirdest, honestly.

The less niche a platform is, the more of this kind of thing you see. Some of those are probably bots, but a lot of it is just the effect of a larger userbase.

also what the fuck is with people announcing when they save a meme? if someone told me that was a thing i'd assume it came from reddit or facebook or something but i've literally never seen this practice anywhere else except like phpBB forums in 2004 maybe.

It could very well be a sign of a bot trained on a huge set of older posts and not smart enough to keep up with trends.

Twitter and social media is just pure :brainworms: . This is the type of shit you reflexively move to when the platform encourages you to give the hottest and most contrarian take on every topic.

Unions in the 20s were racist, thus all labour organizing is bad and you're strikebreaking is good. And there are so many people praising this baby brained argument.

Weird how the burden of a racist past only falls on unions, as if the companies weren't racist as fuck too. Why don't the companies have to pay more because they historically underpaid and had poor conditions for marginalized groups? I mean, we know why he's not saying that, because he just wants to shit on labor. But that shit cuts both ways.

Yeah cause we talk about shit that is real. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/12690/why-are-people-who-cross-picket-lines-called-scabs

From blemish … to strikebreaker, the history of the word scab … shows a displacement of meaning from the visceral or physical to the moral register … Just as a scab is a physical lesion, the strikebreaking scab disfigures the social body of labor—both the solidarity of workers and the dignity of work.

Its from Norse and entered the english language in like the 1300s. I mean if you wanted a bit smarter of a grift you would go with "blaggard" pronounced "blackleg" which was used back in the day for scabs and class traitors. it has nothing to do with race, and probably comes from cheating while playing cards, but it would be easier to lie about than scab

Also you can tell how little someone cares about the racism in unions in america around the turn of the century given that they conceive of it only in terms of modern racism. You would bring up the very much literally enshrined exclusion of Chinese workers as well. That and ya know.....the bosses intentionally brought black people and Chinese laborers in after depriving them of jobs in order to strikebreak. But nope must just be cause racism just happens
