I didn't quite grasp the full significance of Maduro using gender neutral pronoun until I learned that there's a culture war going around hispanic reactionaries making having gendered language their entire identity.
It's CRAZY how much that culture war has sped up recently. All my friends have mentioned their lab partners or other classmates randomly dropping their spicy takes on inclusive language. I've personally been involved in a huge struggle session over it as well. And what kills me is most of these dudes complaining about using "todxs" or "ellxs" are STEM lords who have never read a book out of their own volition and suddenly they're worried about the future of the Spanish language. Wish they would just stfu, no one is even getting mad at people for using "todos" or even "todos y todas" so they can't complain that people are forcing them to use gender neutral language. It's a complete reactionary meltdown over nothing, as usual.
