The Tradcaths would be railing against the introduction of the Tridentine Mass in the 1500s as an innovation if Vatican II hadn't removed it. Also Benedict is not as far removed from Francis as you might think (for both better and worse). He fucking hates the Trads almost as much.

I sometimes get the impression that tradcaths just treat Benedict as their anti-pope to get around this.
