Most of the media coverage will probably celebrate her life and offer a golden opportunity for a whitewashed retelling of the past century of British imperial history. Considering her long reign and beloved status, most of them will probably take it well (which is why we should give her the Rumsfeld treatment and make all these nerds lose their minds).
King Charles is going to sour like a dumpster full of milk and diapers baking in the summer sun though, and might lead to the breakup of the commonwealth.

The smartest thing for them to do would be to force Charles to abdicate in favor of William. Everyone hates Charles.
