china has much more auto fatalities per capita and per vehicle. i think the actual state of affairs isn't as described in the article, but there is something missing there.
I've seen this before. The explanation is apparently if you injure someone you have to pay for their recovery where if they die you don't have to pay anything.
guessing a newer driving culture with fewer/less stringent regulations? the united states has been in love with the automobile for over a century now, and in its early history they were death traps for everyone involved.
