Probably not a bad thing to lay it out, since people seem to forget that wh40k is at least supposed to be satire.
If you come to a Games Workshop event or store and behave to the contrary, including wearing the symbols of real-world hate groups, you will be asked to leave
FUCKING FINALLY the amount of sweaty dorks who go to my local store and are unironically nazis is too fucking high
Good that they've had this stance reiterated again (I seem to remember a near identical statement by them a year or two ago). But they're still shitty to fans, shitty to employees, and shitty about their IP. So I'm just gonna go ahead and still play piratehammer. Plenty of support these days, between VTTs, 3d printer-friendly models, and the excellent 9th-age.
sounds fun as hell i wish i had the free time for stuff like that. i haven't played any GW game in a long time (but still have some models in boxes) but really thought 3d printing and stuff like tabletop simulator would basically wreck their stupid scam system. even when i was a kid there were the resin unauthorized vehicles for 40k.
When I was a kid, we had bought a starter kit, but mostly played Warhammer Fantasy with cut out plastic squares and cardboard terrain.
I actually haven't personally played with 3d printed models due to lockdowns, but I've played a bit on tabletop simulator these past two years.
But you can find 3d printed models for sale cheaper that GW's models, and I've heard they have better print quality too much of the time, though shippings a pain, as GW has cracked down on sellers where they can, meaning most of the people you can buy from are in china. All of this is just what I've heard though; I have my own printer, that while small and slow, has excellent print quality.
What VTT do you use? I use foundry but doesn't look like they support any war games.
I love Foundry for RPGs, but I've been using Tabletop Simulator for warhammer. It can be kind of jank with the full physics simulation, but honestly, that kinda matches the somewhat jank feel of physical warhammer for me.
You gotta kinda roll the dice to see if your army is available premade in TTS mods, but there's a lot up, and I've had probably a 90% success rate finding what I need, and doing one-off replacements of weird models works well enough. (and I recommend doing a backup if you find a good mod, as GW does periodically take them down)
WH40k: "To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest, most bloody regime imaginable."
Chuds: :is-this: Are these the good guys?
No but I wish I'd thought of that. ManeatingClam is probably a better username.
They had to stop TTS before they get to the point where Alfa would say it before they do
Satire is completely dead and it was never a good tool to begin with. You have to make it so fucking hamfisted to make it obvious to the average chudfuck and even then they'll probably just coopt it.
Now they just need to admit that the Tau are the goodies, fish commies with Gundams go brrrrrrrr.
This is probably a respond to the tournament in spain a few weeks ago where a player calling himself "the Austrian Painter" and wearing nazi symbols where playing.
The TO did nothing, and when people refused to play him, they forfeited the game 0-20.
