First halo game I’ve played a lot since Reach and it kinda feels like halo 3 and Reach’s baby/what the bungie sequel would have been. So far I’m D3 in the soloq mnk

only negative experience is one otherwise positive dude would keep yelling that the other team were f****ts over and over like it was 2009

It's a Halo, and it's free, what's not to love?

The seed carrying mode isn't very fun though, especially when you roll it the third time in a row. It feels like the only thing that determines who wins is which team has more people willing to do the boring objective.

Making it free was a very smart move. Way more people are playong and talking about it.

I'm usually pretty nervous about starting new games because of how many have unlock-treadmills but I was actually really motivated to try it out after I saw the subreddit has been up in arms over how shitty the cosmetics system is lol. I love games where the monetisation is cosmetic because I never gave a shit about those anyways.

Idealy those kind of unlocks would be free and the game would be totally free but the devs and publisher seem pretty content with not over monitizing the game and making it a grind treadmill.

The AI that yells at you is incredibly annoying. Its like having clap trap follow you around and you cant turn it off from what i've seen.

The troop hog feels like a warthog but the turret hog feels off.

I had the game crash three times yesterday

    bring back old announcer man

The gameplay feels really solid, the magnum feels good. I wish they didn't give everything more military sounding names, sorta silly imo.

I really like how they brought back equipment rather than loadouts, fuck loadouts.

I really wish I could avoid all the battlepass bullshit and the f2p bs. I always liked halo because its fairly simple of a game.

Its really hard to just find normal slayer matches in non-ranked games. I don't wanna get sweaty, I just wanna do slayer.

I've enjoyed it so far. Played about 10 hours or so.

One issue I will say I have is that the Bulldog Shotgun, Shock Rifle, and Sentinel Beam all feel very weak for pick-up weapons, especially the shotgun. The Hydra could also be better in lock-on mode but the free-fire seems pretty cool to me.

Every other gun seems to have its niche though and I've had fun with everything I've picked up so far.

Yeah that shotgun is such shit. All three of those guns can sometimes be good but usually aren't and usually feel kinda ass.

The performance is not great and the hit detection frequently seems very iffy. I've tried fiddling with the settings but even on the lowest resolution the fps is inconsistent, even on the small 4v4 maps I can get stutters. Some matches the hit detection just feels straight up awful but other times it is flawless. Don't know if I'm being put on a very far server since you can't see your ping in game but I was playing with one other person who also would experience the same thing. I also was on the opposite end of it once where I was just playing ridiculously aggressively and could not die, like doing the flashy stuff they showcase in trailers with the grapple hook.

I don't really have any complaints about the rest of the actual game though. It's annoying that the warthog still weighs nothing and that melee is so strong. I like that most of the guns are actually worth using unlike Halo 3 and a few are exceptional. There aren't very many maps but I've heard rumors that more content will be released on the 8th. Most of them play well enough even though sometimes Bazaar and the other urban one feel too small for 4v4.

A total step backwards from Halo 5. Worse progression, worse movement, worse aiming, worse maps, worse variety of modes. Very little new to make up for all the cool shit Halo 5 had. Campaign looks cool though.

was halo 5 a loadout game? idk i didn't like 4 much so i kinda gave up on 343 halo until now, this game seems like the best halo since 3 in terms of gunplay/the equipment

No. It had new movement options, only a few of which came to Halo 5 but most of which gave the game a much better feeling. There were several new modes like a round based, one life based CTF mode called Break Out and a weird Battlefield style thing called Warzone. But it also did all the classic Halo shit real well.

Halo 5 didn’t have loadouts, it did have a weird requisition mode for war zone but it was different

I like it a lot. It feels like halo 2/3 but with some jazzy extras.

4 would have been fine if they literally just let you play Slayer, but they ONLY let you play Call of Duty Sisyphus mode AKA loadouts and instant respawns.

I kinda liked how the Halo 5 movement felt but all the levels were just... Adjusted to make you use it instead of just jumping into stuff. So really you didn't have any extra power, you just had to put your gun down all the time. It was a downgrade.
