Apartheid happened in South Africa (not in "Israel", not in the US) and it was bad. But then Nelson Mandela said "Don't do a violence, let's all be nice to each other instead" and then the apartheid regime realised they had been defeated in the marketplace of ideas and apartheid stopped and everything was fine after that.
