The meme format is that you both do the same thing, but for different reasons. So they're saying that they want walkable cities and that's why they hate Musk, as opposed to just being anti-capitalist.
Neoliberals hate Musk because they hate the auto industry and cars (they haven't figured out which ideology was responsible for cars dominating our infrastructure).
Leftists hate Elon Musk because he's a billionaire capitalist.
We are not the same (because neoliberals would reflexively defend Musk the second the left criticizes him).
A lot of self-identified neoliberals don't understand what neoliberalism is. They have some of the same desires as leftists, but are too in love with the sense of intellectual superiority they get from disdaining wingfidels to actually think about what it would take to achieve them.
No, they don't. Neoliberals are fundamentally opposed to a stateless, classless society that abolishes the value form. Their entire ideology is based on making things as easy as possible for accumulation by making markets as frictionless as possible, some of them are just deluded enough to believe that the rising tide will lift all boats.
I think it’s more simple than that. They are extremely comfortable in their personal lives and because of this they believe the system is sound and just needs a small adjustment here or there.
They are also so comfortable that they can’t even imagine what it’s like to experience violence and oppression.

their ideology is based on feeling clever and coping with their student loan debt. Bill Gates doesn't post on /r/neoliberal.
