Find local mutual aid groups on Instagram, you can donate directly to them or typically they repost the venmos of unhoused and marginalized individuals. This is the most direct form of aid you can do with your dollars aside from going out and distributing supplies yourself.
Stay away from big traditional charities, many of the participate in things like neocolonialism and homophobia (in the case of Salvation Army) and all sorts of cringe shit.
Even at best, charity only exists to reinforce the capitalist status quo. Put your money into mutual aid, direct action, and try to keep things local if you can.
Thanks for the response. Why do you prefer keeping donations local? Is it because local donations are generally more 'cost-effective' than donating to bigger organizations or is it for another reason?
Because it will go to your community, therefore making your own life better.
