It's nothing new or surprising. A lot of the "left" in the imperial core are really just dedicated to a more equitable distribution of wealth within the core and see the global south as a spooky asiatic horde threading the stability of the bourgeoisie democracy they benefit from living under.

Chumpsky criticized both Ukraine war and the Palestinian genocide, but he probably took 2 years before (hopefully) connecting the dots that this is what he specifically agitated for decades - "victory for the socialism" supposedly coming after destruction of USSR.
They are white supremacists but they also want healthcare. When their healthcare is cut to pay for more bombs they will tell themselves that it is a necessary sacrifice to defend against the great non-western bogeyman.
