Never forget that every COVID death in the west is murder due to gross negligence resulting in loss of life.

Our leaders knew it would get this bad if they refused to lock down properly, they made a conscious decision to allow the virus to spread for the sake of the economy.

    This is murder.

That's how our media and politicians want us to feel. They don't want anyone actually being alarmed by how insane this is.

It feels like I'm surrounded by bratty children who won't wash their hands just because their mom was rude when she told them to.

Yep. It’s too exhausting to really keep track anymore. I got my booster. I’ll get any more boosters I’m told to get. I still wear a mask in stores and shit. But I just can’t care past that anymore.

Flirtingwith the idea of not getting boosters and just letting it wash over me and everyone around me at this point

I don't think it's going to be a societal collapse, but it's a critical moment where the Chinese government has been running up on the U.S. and "the free West" economically, and instead of a response (which would have been pretty ineffective anyway, but bought some time), the West is having a 3 year long coughing fit both literally and figuratively. It's truly unfortunate that all parts of society were not organized enough to respond which has cost millions of lives, but it sets the stage for a brighter future without capital steering things with an iron grip. The grip is still quite firm, but there's a sliver of hope somewhere in the depths of it in my view.

Hearing my colleagues talk about how they’re traveling to see family all across the US in the next week :yea:

Edit: hearing about how close to capacity NHS England already is is pretty horrific, ngl. Especially when a million cases a day is being seriously mentioned. There’s going to be a lot of death, even if Omicron turns out to be milder (which is unclear, as there’s conflicting evidence between Denmark and South Africa right now).

It goes without saying, but for the love of :lenin-laugh: , make sure y’all are boosted and are cautious about spending time indoors in groups right now. The doubling rate of Omicron is 2 days, hence the insane growth in the UK - it will take off like a rocket here too.

Instant gratification has to be an absolute mental poison. I'm guilty of it too, but this sheer apathy of the world around them because treatflow is ridiculous.

How many layers of privilege is one on where they can tell themselves "since I do not like the consequences of this thing being true, it is therefore false."

Omicron has an r number of FOUR.

Delta by comparison currently has an r number of 1.2.

    We're absolutely fucked, everywhere.

It means they made some kind of correction to the reported data. It happens in a lot of places, and I never know how suspicious I’m supposed to be of it.
