Loved putting 90's music cds in the ps1 and seeing what kind of monster Alanis Morissette would spit out. Monster Rancher had such a neat gimmick.
I remember putting in a Smashing Pumpkins CD and it gave me a pumpkin monster. Another time I put in Microsoft Encarta and it gave me a book monster. Child me thought I had discovered the secrets of the universe.
That's pretty cute and clever that it did that. I remember getting random monsters, like a rabbit thing and some kind of centipede?
The games were hard coded to recognize certain CDs that would have been popular at the time, otherwise it was purely random and I remember getting like 7 of the yellow eyeball guys and it sucked.
I think it was Monster Rancher 2 where if you put in the Matrix soundtrack, you got a special Hare that looked like Neo
