It doesn't make a difference.

All it took was my job nearly killing me and leaving me wondering why I'd ever been happy to have it in the first place!
"You are fucking disgusting for reasons you have wired yourself to can't comprehend"
Good news, aliens exist!
:sicko-yes:
The bad news is they're anti-Christian communists that hate America...
:sicko-beaming:
I remember some documentary where they asked different clergy how they viewed the possibility of alien life. The Islamic scholar just went "life on other planets fits perfectly with Islam, and according to the Quran aliens are also Muslim" :gigachad:
On the one hand, good for them consulting people with other views about the universe. On the other it's probably just a bunch of lib Catholics and Protestants. Maybe a token Buddhist.
I really don't think much would change if it happened. There's so little trust in scientific institutions that a good third of the population would instantly declare it fake. Then the other 2/3 would be like "wait aliens exist so why do I still gotta go to work"
I think the other 2/3 would more likely be thinking "who cares if aliens exist, I still gotta go to work"
I agree. I told people about scientists possibly discovering life in Venus’s atmosphere and none of them cared. I suspect this is because it’s difficult to fit a discovery like that into the culture war. This is possibly why no one really cared about those navy UFOs, which were probably some kind of CIA or MIC op anyway.

I should work for Alex Jones
Honestly if it's not gonna have a measurable impact on my life I don't think I would really give a shit either. If anything, I'd be mad about it because some dumbass scientist would bring home a sample and that seems like a really awful idea
I think the general mainstream opinion regarding anything to do with space goes back and forth between "oh, kinda cool I guess" and "who cares"
Assuming we find evidence of alien life and not actual contact, I think this is definitely how Evangelicals in the US will react (complete denial). They have to, because the existence of aliens is theologically very tricky for them to deal with.
And personally, I think we'll see evidence of aliens long before contact. Because of the massive distances involved, if FTL travel is not possible then we could see the lights from alien cities but not be able to contact them.
Theres a good chunk of the population that currently believes in aliens, who would suddenly not if they were presented to them by the government or whatever body is given the charge to announce it.
Basically, yeah, the religious take on it would be the least of the issue
I think there's a solid chance that aliens have to be communist.
Would any species actually be able to get to a different planet to create contact if they had to rely on alien Musk and alien Bezos to fund any developments?
I think the chances of capitalist aliens getting to earth is a lot lower than communist aliens.
Would love to watch a series like Star Trek but there's no Prime Directive. Give me trot aliens exporting revolution across the galaxy
Implying the empire doesn't already constantly use aliens to distract us from the war crimes they're committing, and it works every damn time.
The last scene of The Last Airbender season one but instead of Azula smiling it's 👽
Are we getting the aliens that Posadas promised? Is China's Air Force so much better than ours that the pentagon is going to keep going with "aliens" to pretend we wouldn't be owned? Is the DOD planning on doubling down on using UFOs to drum up more funding?
Choosing to live in the first two realities, even though this is hell world so I know it's the third one
probably just some sort of end of year thing they had to do or get defunded
