taking over 100 fully nude photos of his adopted pre-teen daughter, completely buying his claims that he "had to" for "medical reasons"

entirely because he writes about how the Soviet Union was bad.

I think what they're saying is that Putin really wants a "Crony Capitalist" Neo-USSR. Still dumb for a ton of reasons, not the least of which is that the supposed reason for this is that he doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO, which is the reddest of red lines for literally any possible iteration of the Russian government.

There is no difference between anticommunism and pedophilia. - Source: LOTS of personal experience.

Lot's of zoophilia stuff among the anticommunists too (particularly the dictatorships in Latin America -- wonder if they learned that at Fort Benning). Just gross, awful creatures, the lot of them.

The historian said the nude photos had been taken to document the development of the child's malnourishment in case of problems with social services, as she had been underweight when he and his wife adopted her.

Maybe they do things differently in Russia but in California this sort of thing would be verified by regularly scheduled doctor's checkups (children in the system get MediCal, so it's free to the parent). Even if they didn't you could just log the child's weight on a normal scale to show that they're on track for their height and age.

Yeah, I think the reason it feels weird is that it's made up. The doctor apparently stated that he never asked for any such photographs.

Also, even if you had to visually document this there's no reason that the kid couldn't be wearing at least shorts and a tank top or a sports bra or something.

This piece of shit is just a predator.

Preferably in one that makes every cold war warrior's depiction of the Gulag system seem like a weeny hut junior.
