So was South Korea. About as rich as one of the worse-off African nations before the split.
The south embraced capitalism and democracy and are a powerhouse. The North embraced authoritarian rule and communism and did… not so well.
Yep. That's how it happened, you idealist dork. When the koreas researched "ideologies" and the "choose your path" prompt popped up, the south chose "democracy" and got an economic development bonus, while the north foolishly chose "authoritarian" and gained nothing but mass gymnastic displays. do not make their mistake!
All the foundational information you need about the Korean war, the modern history of Korea, and the roots of its current occupation by the imperial United States can be found in Patriots, Traitors, and Empires
Intellectual property rights is a weird restriction for a country to force upon itself. Westerners are mad that China didn't shoot themself in the foot like they did.
they didn't. they stole whatever they liked from whoever was under their control and then passed intellectual property laws to protect the patents and copyrights they filed to claim they were the inventors. it's all always been a sham.

I hate that I read books to learn about the Korean war, because actually knowing shit makes Reddit comments even more painful than they were before.

Always going communist in Civ games for that sweet sweet industry bonus. :marx-ok:
Usually ends with a war against the entire world when everyone else goes; "Democracy", or full fash, so that checks out.
It is obvious that when you get elected as president you have a focus tree to explore and choose different paths like in hearts of iron 4.
But anyway, wasn't the North actually much better than the South until like the 80s/90s?
But usa is no trains zone, how can they steal it
