Omicron is just a cold bro

I love that Joe Biden is giving everyone the 21st century polio and we’re supposed to be thankful for it

It's too grim for me to chef's kiss this, but it's still too clever not to acknowledge. :kitty-cri-screm:

The real pandemic has just begun. Now we see the excess deaths rise consistently for the next decade.

Dying from chronic COVID infection and secondary effects is the real pandemic, and will affect at least 10% of the population

They will, big time. It was inevitable given the aging population, and the issues in the healthcare system aren't going away even if Covid magically disappeared overnight and there were no long-term after effects. Not to mention the continuing issues with drug overdoses - those were headed in a bad direction for the past 5-10 years, and the material factors that caused the rise aren't going away.

Someone posted this another thread, but from the article it sounds like they're hypothesizing covid gets into the pancreas and does damage there. Not good folks.

A good combination is diabetes and chronic blood clotting issues. The former also contributes to the latter and most diabetics die of clots. If the stroke/heart attack doesn't kill you outright, which won't factor into that coveted 999million9%.999.9%.% survival rate, you'll end up with the other pureblooded survivors competing for nursing home beds or each new degree of debilitation will only increase your clotting risk.

I'd get a booster every day to avoid real COVID.

I was using polio as a reference to something that people know of that has long term effects (ie post-polio syndrome)….but I hadn’t appreciated that covid is actually worse. Lol we’re so fucked even if Biden went full covid zero at this point :doomer:

Only the people who our job is protecting from certain death are dying, great news!

    Shit, wrong thread.

It isn't a death, so it doesn't statistically matter! :stonks-up:

My impression is that while severe COVID often essentially makes you drown in your own damaged lungs, the infection hits nearly all major organ systems pretty hard and at least exacerbates existing conditions. Already had low kidney function? Well now you have kidney disease. Prediabetic? Well now it's worse.

It is reasonable to assume that it also increases the chances of developing diseases related to organ failure.
