Oh it's 100% the brain worms they got from all the propaganda.

You can clearly see this when some post on r/gaming or r/pcmasterrace involves China and/or Tencent in any way. There's always blatant sinophobia, propaganda and racism mixed in there.

The weird thing is, that sentiment made it's way here in Brazil too. I don't really remember much since it was 10+ years ago, but I do recall anti-Baidu stuff on the internet, mostly calling it a computer virus and such and even about Tencent much more recently, although not a lot of stuff.

I also have seen gringos making some valid criticism about predatory monetization by Tencent, but it is usually followed with "China bad".

Well brazil has been a bastion of anticommunism in latin america so it makes sense that hate against anything coming from china gets promoted.

If we’re honest, it’s because they are a morally bankrupt mega corporation as many others across the globe are. They are absolutely harvesting data, selling user information, essentially injecting spyware into peoples systems, relying on predatory gaming systems such as gambling and gatcha, among many other ethically corrupt capitalistic practices.

However, the unbridled hate is mostly projection, because nothing Tencent is doing is not what Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, etc, have been doing already for years; and will continue to do.

      It's the classic argument path:

Liberals: "I hate [foreign government/country/corporation/person/etc] for [usually somewhat justifiable reason in a vacuum]!"

Communists: "Okay, sure, but [Western government/country/corporation/person/etc] does that same thing but much, much worse! Why aren't you talking about them?"

Liberals: "Oh, I hate it when they do that too! We're just talking about this particular [foreign government/country/corporation/person/etc] right now! Why are you deflecting? Are you trying to defend them? Whataboutism!"

Communists: go to their profile; literally no evidence that they have ever complained about a single Western entity in their lifetime, and may even have expressed support for Western entities that do even worse things

I fucking wish. Tencent is the world biggest digital media company, strict controlling it by CPC and being used to flood west with communist propaganda would be like dream. Instead it's just a digital media conglomerate which have to tiptoe in China a little.

Rare good Khrushchev idea? It wasn't even his though, iirc it was Zhdanov's. Khrushchev praxis led to opposite, flooding socialist countries with capitalist propaganda, masked as entertainment.

Well I'm no expert on this particular question but I always felt like Stalin's socialism in one country was opposed to exporting the revolution? Maybe I misunderstood?

It wasn't even Stalin idea but Lenin, after the Civil War made them unable to help Hungarian, Finnish, Latvian, German revolutions and they all failed it practically proven that the only possible approach was to concentrate on building productive forces - just it was so that the constant onslaught of capitalists made USSR unable to really start on exporting revolution because it found itself in either cold or hot war against reaction for all its existence. Also note what happened at the war with Poland in 1920 - it was ultimate test of Trotsky theory.

Zhdanov doctrine was about something else, essentially culture war and culture revolution inside USSR against burgeoise influence, but unfortunately it didn't came to pass and Zhdanov died in 1948, due to intentional misdiagnosis and malpractice (possibly part of events that culminated in doctor's plot).

Because China is socialist* and President Xi presonally oversees every decision that every company makes, meaning he has access to everyone who has given any of their data to Tencent. As they are the very important main character, China cares immensely what microtransactions they choose to purchase. Which they will use to uh...make more targeted microtransactions!

*When they do something bad. If they do something good it is because China is actually capitalist.

What's funny is that Joey whose 22 and plays a ton of Genshin Impact thinks he has any information the Chinese Government would at all be interested in.

      Yes?

I’m not saying that China is doing that, but if an entity were to want to perform successful mass marketing or propaganda; then demographic, psychographic, and geographic data is vital to that. The more you have, the better you can tailor your messages and efforts to a target population. That is basic marketing, and why companies ceaselessly collect as much data as humanly possible as quickly as possible.

Therefore... It is the moral imperative of every socialist to play Genshin Impact so Xi can better target his anti-American propaganda.

        I'll start the update.

It’s projection. There actually is people spying on them (google, Instagram, etc), but instead of recognizing and fighting that their energy is directed into fighting a made up enemy. Same with all the reactionary fears. They’re real problems that the left has failed to openly address, so money can back a fantasy version that still makes them feel vindicated.

They're not worried about being spied on, they're worried that they're handing their data to "the evil redfacist Chinese government" (but don't care that the NSA has seen their dick pics)

I think because their media consumption is gamified. If i post certain things you get down votes and negative comments citing convincing (but fallacious) arguments that make me feel inferior. If I post other things I get positive comments and upvotes that make me feel smart.

Once people get conditioned to it they're basically immune to facts since facts that run contrary to their social conditioning make them feel yucky.

You know, according to some people it is CCP's fault, that Characters from Genshin Impact are not sexualised (message me if someone wants to play with me ໒꒰ྀིᵔ ᵕ ᵔ ꒱ྀི১ )

People complaining about data collection from Chinese companies while seeing no problem with other companies or countries is absurd. Data sovereignty (is it how it's called?) is important and I do not want companies to collect my data and probably sell it or do other stuff with it. But it applies to all services on the internet.
