Honestly this is just the correct political move from their perspective. Debates are democratic home turf. Trump just proved they can dip out of them and not face any consequences.

    The majority of Americans feel as if democracy is about to collapse and even in the sense of bourgeois democracy, I think they’re correct

      I caught a NPR story during their 1/6 coverage about how young people feel about the state of our "democracy". Even the lib kids were pretty pessimistic and pretty much thought it was a sham and only getting worse
