    Shit, the whip has already been cracked and people are out of savings already. A huge portion of the ongoing "worker shortage" now is largely being caused by unnecessarily restricted application processes and screens implemented by employers on the larger level.

      Huge backlog for background checks is what I've seen. They shouldn't be needed for most jobs, but I bet those used to be ran by smaller firms and the backlog is due to the 3 remaining background check companies in the US being slower because it's more profitable somehow.

        I've had background checks that were just name searches in a database. Wouldn't be surprised if they offer upcharged delays so that you can feel comfortable assuming they must be doing a lot of work.
