Occasionally when I'm playing Minecraft, I think about how wealthy Notch is and feel guilty for playing the game that made him rich.

There's an 1991 NES puzzle game called "Bubble Bath Babes" which was sort of a porn game (I say "sort of" because the extent of the porn was that it featured pixel art of naked women). I've played a ROM of it partly out of "interest in the history of video games", but it also has a very catchy music loop.

For about a week, I was into the furry dating simulator "Amorous" and got most of the endings.

I took a dive myself and I don't see any, though there is "Amplify BIPOC voices", "Support BIPOC creators" and "Teach your friends about anti-racism". Though there's a message about the game featuring music by Lena Raine.

I play pirated Minecraft and when I think about Notch I say "Yeah, he promised he'll give Minecraft away for free" so yeah, I got my free copy.

I'm pretty sure I remember Bubble Bath Babes being featured on EGM, probably a seanbaby column at the back of the magazine. What an odd entry!

U a real one for bubble bath babes. Honestly I think the first "boobs" I ever saw was from bubble bath babes lol.

Far Cry 2 was a really interesting semi-dystopic setting. You we're a Merc in a fictional war in Central Africa, doing jobs for all the sides to earn blood diamonds. The world was too hostile though, everyone was trying to kill you eventually, even your merc buddies, and the damn checkpoints on the roads would respond so quickly so it felt like a slog to get anywhere. You also were infected with malaria and would start passing out in the middle of gun fights or die if you didn't keep finding medicine for it lmao. Those things made it more a more realistic setting than the other games but tbh it wasn't very much fun... kinda depressing even. This was before they figured out the outpost capture formula in FC3.

yeah, I'm with you. I actually enjoyed New Dawn. I have a thing for seeing time skips in games and recognizing how areas changed over time. I genuinely enjoy the story of Far Cry 5 too. Clearing an outpost with complete stealth is the best feeling.

Far Cry 6 however is just...not great. It's so incredibly liberal and the bugs make it unplayable.

Yeah the lib cuba politics were pretty unbearable. I really enjoyed 5 and new dawn. With 6 it really felt like they phoned it in story-wise. Plus felt kinda weird that you were fighting the guy that was curing cancer.

The lib politics are pretty bad in 5 too, don't get me wrong. All the good characters are cops, small business owners, and extremely weird rural bunker preppers who wave the American flag everywhere. I have a ton of problems politically with 5 but I also like throwing shovels at cultists so it's not that big of an issue.

The gacha aspect is bad but everything else is incredibly well done and competent though and all the gamers saying they wish Genshin would die as soon as there is a competitor have no experience playing gacha games at all.

The asian community in general is also far better than western weebs, just go look at the reception to the anniversary and the quality of the fanart for the CN streams.

It's actually a decent game minus the monetized aspect, unlike the other anime gambling games out there

I like the Modern Day unironically. Even the running around not-ubisoft in 4.

I'm similar with Tom Clancy games (and military shooters in general I suppose), they always have terrifyingly neocon politics but there's something about playing operator doll dress up that gets me every time lmao. Also it's sometimes fun to break down their stupid propaganda-y plots, like how in the Division 2 there are two literal US deep state factions - an evil PMC and a bunch of special forces literally integrated into the US population with orders to restore the federal government in a SHTF situation - but the latter one that you work for is good for some reason despite them seemingly having basically the same goal.

I actually enjoy idle games sometimes even though I know they're a psychological trick designed to make me addicted.

I actually really like the Gears of War series.

Here's the best one. When I was a kid I actually enjoyed Superman 64. I didn't see what was wrong with it.

Yeah, the only (non-shadow) achievements I need are getting to 600 of the last 2 buildings, getting lvl10 for all buildings, hitting 7777 golden cookies, and a bunch of the total baked / cookies per second ones.

Picked up Ghost Recon Wildlands for cheap recently and started playing with some friends. Some of the politics might be cool, but mostly they aren't and it's pretty fucking racist. Apparently they were going to set the game in Mexico but in 2016 Mexico became a political thing so they switched it... to Bolivia.

They were going to have allied Zapatistas or something, which I think betray you later in the game. So when they ditched the Mexico setting, they switched them for indigenous Bolivian rebels. But again, apparently they turn out to become bad guys. And it still basically makes them like a rebel movement and not like, an established part of Bolivian society.

Worse, there's all this radio talk where the accents are like North Mexican or LA accents or something. Pretty fucking wild.

What I do like about the game is that it's GTA, except the point is to shoot things. In GTA it doesnt really make sense to go guns blazing all over the place, but in this game it's like a civil war with narcos or whatever.

I'm not far enough in to really assess the story but it seems pretty fucked. Bolivia in 2016 apparently got pretty fucking pissed about it

Yeah the politics in Wildlands are wild. I kinda liked Noah Caldwell-Gervais' take on it. "Narratively it's the worst possible mashup of both worlds - a game that takes the legacies of some of the united states most cynical, unjustifiable conflicts and bafflingly concludes: "Yeah, the U.S. military breaks laws and commits war crimes all the time. Cuz of how fuckin badass they are amirite?" There's more to it than that quote - it's one of those hour long videos about video game nonsense.

Oh god I feel your pain. I got it back when it first released and I was just getting into following indie devs.

I remember going into one of Dondi's dev discords stoned out of my gourd and he made a sexual innuendo while I wasn't paying attention. I was just taken off guard, so I uttered "what?" into an open mic (thanks discord) and he just snapped at me to gtfo, kiddie followed by 'oohs' from the rest of the open mics. :shocked-dino:

Path of Titans seems pretty cool, though.

I used to play a lot of DoA3, 4, and 5 online tournaments. It's one of the better 3D fighters even without the goofball aesthetics of it. I love the mindgames with the counters that can go into counter-counters. A lot of 3D fighters are too slow for me or too floaty. I feel like DoA got it just right.

    The Dynasty Warriors genre.

Ever so often it’s just.. nice.

All the games suck, even the good ones.
