Headlights or any form of artificial light is needed for indoor growing. That way you can manipulate the light cycle of the plant (12 hours on, 12 hours off or 16 hours on, 8 hours off or even 5 hours on 1 hour off, though I don't think that last one would work). Porsche headlights are probably used because they are very powerful and relatively easy to remove, though I'm not sure about that.
Edit: you probably wouldn't want to use headlights though, would be a nightmare to get working properly and the title of the post is probably a "reddit moment"
