psilocybin may take a lot to kill you but i have a gut feeling that your brain would be FUCKED if you took 1000 doses of psilocybin. might even put you into a coma
The effectiveness would actually taper off and become oversaturated above a certain number of doses. So basically you would get about as high as you could possibly be, but then the rest would just pass through your system because there wouldn't be any receptors left for it to bind to.
i've heard anecdotally it happens around an ounceish, you start to get heavy tapered effects. anecdotal for sure, but what ssjmarx said is definitely true. this is in contrast to say, LSD, which 1000 doses of is in actuality 1000 doses of LSD. a la thumprints. at least psilocybin has some empathy for your poor brain.
I had an out of body experience with 4 grams of shrooms, I can't even begin to imagine what tripping on an ounce would be like. Normally I do 3 or less grams in peppermint tea with some lemon juice and it's enough for a very good time.
i've found tea to be a much smoother and calmer experience, meaning you can take much higher doses without it becoming too much. 4 grams sounds right though, mckenna always talked about 5 dried grams of mushrooms being the 'heroic dose' where you transcend your sense of self and become one, which he thought was where the good stuff was.
pour all that LSD down that security guard's mouth to stop him IDing them was haunting. Like surely that would ruin your brain, which is more macabre than killing someone.
Not psylocybin but LSD obviously, but still same principle I think.
I mean, imagine what that much marijuana would do to your lungs. Even just vaping that shit would be horrible for you.
I'm reminded of stories about someone trying to drink thirty gallons of water on a dare and destroying their digestive track as a consequence. There's more to this game than just "how much of the active ingredient will kill you".
