You know, big time CEOs are the bad guys in like 90% of western TV and movies too. Even shows that use :us-foreign-policy: as disposable bad guys for the main character to shoot will have a white guy in a suit as the antagonist behind it all.
Meanwhile in Amerikkka, people watch a show called Undercover Boss where a multimillionaire "executive" struggles to be a worker in a restaurant/factory/etc.
Part of the show, probably predetermined by the show's producers, shows them helping an employee that is a single parent, victim of the US healthcare system, or aspiring college student, by giving them money/house/car/tuition. As if helping one person changes how they treat the rest of the workers.
The Saturday Night Live (star wars) undercover boss with Adam Driver was the last I heard of this show, I don't know if it's still on the air. The skit was typical SNL schlock, but it at least made fun of the show's premise. MadTV would have done it better.
Oh my god they're treating bad people like bad people eeeeek

signals more pain for private companies

Holy shit, I can hear how MAD the writer is. Like just.. shitting their pants with rage at the start.
You think a paper dedicated to good business would be in favor of removing corrupt and bribable people, as American companies are NEVER allowed to bribe or commit crimes, and it gives an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE to cheating companies. Yet, they seem mad about fighting corruption?
If you're a die hard classical liberal it should definitely be seen as a good thing to exist lol
Right?! Their beliefs switch around constantly to be able to attack the enemy.
"Crowning" the landlords and parading them through the villages. This sort of thing is very common. A tall paper-hat is stuck on the head of one of the local tyrants or evil gentry, bearing the words "Local tyrant so-and-so" or "So-and-so of the evil gentry". He is led by a rope and escorted with big crowds in front and behind. Sometimes brass gongs are beaten and flags waved to attract people's attention. This form of punishment more than any other makes the local tyrants and evil gentry tremble. Anyone who has once been crowned with a tall paper-hat loses face altogether and can never again hold up his head. Hence many of the rich prefer being fined to wearing the tall hat. But wear it they must, if the peasants insist.
Mr. Ye disappeared into state detention in early 2018
Love to see it, in evil China the accused people disappear, unlike in the free west were they are simply put into house-arrest for 900 days because they won a case against a corporation in court .
Fuck me if they had this show over here the profiteering and contracts corruption from the first yr of the pandemic would give them enough material for a few dozen seasons.
Yeah this article is very much 'how dare the poors think they can challenge the behaviour of their betters!' As infuriating as it is, it's also a sure fucking sign they're terrified. I think the smarter borgouisie can see the writing on the wall tbh.
The oligarch media understands how always casting a certain demographic as villains reflects negatively on all members of that demographic, not only the "bad" ones. They just happen not to care about it when western media does it to black and poor people.
