It's about a bear who escaped a lab whose experiments made him “smarter than the average bear” as he tries to survive in the wilderness (That he’s only now seeing for the first time) by eating camper's leftovers. All the while constantly evading the relentless Ranger Smith, a corrupt park official hired/bribed by the lab to track him down, capture, and return him.
I was feeling really down but being reminded of Yogi Bear kinds helped. One of my favorite work questions to ask is what cartoon character you'd most want to hang out with and Yogi Bear has been my answer for a while. That dude is cool
He just wants to eat some delicious pick-a-nick baskets.
as a dumb zoomer my only exposure to yogi bear was the live action animated fil in which yogi bear twerks to baby got back. I have now watched that film at least a dozen times and simultaneously love and hate it.
seeing that dumb bear finally get the comeuppance he deserved for all the times I had to watch that film when younger children came round because star wars was too scary for them has given me an ever so slight sense of fulfilment.

I'm surprised if you hadn't seen that before, especially with your history with the movie!
The cartoons are actually pretty awesome. My dad was the middle of two brothers and they made proto memes of some very specific stuff about old Hannah Baraberra cartoons and then in 1996 Canadian cartoon network happened and they mostly had access to the same shit so I ended up growing up on the same cartoons as my dad who was born in 61. The animation is the cheapest and worst shitnever but the writing can be surprisinglt great
Someone said the chipmunks were twerking to baby got back, how many children’s movies does this happen in? Is it the new cartoon trope like having to shrink and go inside someone’s body?
that was also me, I recently watched chipmunks 4 and it unlocked the repressed memories of all the various childrens movies that baby got back was used in. Yogi bear was the earliest one I remember seeing twerking though
edit I've been doing a bit of digging and it goes deeper than I thought:
the alvin and the chipmunks scene
I vaguely remember this bit from shark tale
apparently it was in the second scooby doo live action film
even fucking Target did their own version
the spongebob squarepants burger king version is a literal fever dream
it was in the simpsons in one of the treehouse of terror segments
scary movie 4 did a rare crossover of a matrix reference and baby got back
there's already a jellystone that's about a reboot of yogi bear working a professional career and living in an apartment with boo boo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HAVgdujUWQ
Oh yeah...I forgot about that.
But where's the G R I T
