Last night she was coughing in a manner my asleep brain read as "gross", so unconsciously noped the fuck out of there and slept on the sofa. I can't believe my non-awake brain got it.

She tested positive a few hours ago, so now I just have 7 days to worry. I probably have it, I feel a bit off already.

I know that it's more than most people, but she was wearing low quality masks, going to a non-safe dentist at peak times, and avoiding the booster. I've been nicely pushing her for years, and she brings this shit home. She's also sorry, and I say it's fine because I want her to feel better and recover, but secretly I'm fucking raging.

Sorry to rant. Better on Hexbear than out loud.

I'm sorry to hear you're sick again :(

I meant "realism" in the sense of capitalist realism, that COVID is now an immutable part of our reality by this perspective. What we really need is some kind of mass political action by the people that this virus affects most: working class, marginalized people who might have/have had their lives completely derailed by being disabled by this virus. I don't know if the potential is there yet but this situation is only going to get worse as it affects more and more people.

I'm glad staying isolated helps you with your long COVID but I just don't think it's feasible for a lot of people, if it would even help most people :(

But regardless I don't understand the point of undermining COVID precautions like you did in your first post

    Idk :/

    I'm just fucking tired rn

      thanks for the wellwishes

The people affected by it the most are those who have long-COVID. The ordinary working-class person doesn't really have much skin in this game either, because huge swathes of ANY income bracket are just unaffected by COVID, for genetic or other biological reasons.

long-COVID is also not a discrete illness. Some milder levels of it can be handled if you drive to work or take the train and sit at an office job. But it really fucks your physical work output, and to some extent even mental work output (but of course, mental work output was never measured and never mattered on the job)

5-30% is the figure given for the prevalence of long-COVID, and I suspect the real bad cases are closer to 5%

Personally I dread having ANY semblance of long-COVID, even at the mildest moments I was out of breath from walking 20 yards. I would rather live in a shack if it meant I could work like an ox and think with 100% brain capacity.

But regardless I don't understand the point of undermining COVID precautions like you did in your first post

There is a point and if you want you can DM me
