I've mostly stayed out of the Ukraine discourse, but I have to chime in. Without doxxing myself, let me just say that I had the most traumatizing experience of my life in Donetsk. Really loved being the target of anti gay slurs from a couple hundred people for an evening. Nothing will change for queer people in the Donbas regardless of who is in charge, it will suck.
I’m so sorry that happened to you and I’m glad you’re safe now. Bigotry is a huge fucking issue across Eastern Europe and it’s extremely gross hearing people talk like it would somehow be different just because there are more Russian troops in that region now.
