I'll be the coolest leftist in town but my partner will be extremely mad because they think I'm looking for a RAV4.

How many miles and how much wear on the tires?

That image might help seal the deal, actually. Also it's technically¹ a four wheel drive vehicle, meeting the RAV4 requirement.

      ¹ eheheh

I had an '84 Toyota sr5 as my first car and it fuckin ruled. I only got rid of it cause I needed better gas mileage but I gave it to a family member who still uses it today as a ranch truck-- so it gets used hard. Still going strong at over 280k miles. It's a beast and was so easy to work on, extremely easy even for inexperienced person who is willing to watch some youtube videos

I drove a Hilux exclusively in Nigeria and Haiti. Excellent vehicle. Was late 90/ early 2000 models though

Tell your partner they get first pick between gunning and driving

Not convincing enough, unfortunately. Earth, water, and fire couldn't kill it, but my partner is concerned about attacks from Air Nomads (or the Avatar themself!)

Be prepared to do a lot of maintenance. My daily driver is about ten years younger than that. A couple times a year, some random part will start malfunctioning. Sometimes it’s no biggie, but sometimes it’s a total pain and/or costs a lot of money to take care of.

Check it for rust, they tend to trap moisture in the frame, and the pickup beds were made of a type of steel that's more prone to rust. Here's a decent video on their good and bad qualities.

Thats 32 years old so no. There's a limit to purchasing old vehicles.
