well you see the Americans thought the Afghan army would knowingly fight to the death to save them from embarassment instead of saying "bugger this for a game of soldiers" and all going home.

which is an objectively based way of handling military service

Hi, this is just a friendly reminder to make sure you're drinking plenty of water, and don't forget to take any medications you might need. A lot of people are very stressed right now so please try to remain respectful and civil, regardless of which side you're on. Also, if you feel strongly about what's happening, make sure you're registered to :vote: and consider writing a letter to your congressperson.

    Sincerely,

    The Islamic Emirite of Afghanistan

It's really funny (not funny) how the Taliban just own a country and have to put out statements like this now

No doubt, but they also haven't, to my knowledge, really gotten a government up and running yet, what with the famine and US stealing their money, etc

from this they seem to be giving it the old college try (as I typed this I realised it's also a pun as taliban translates to students) and America couldn't set up a functioning Afghan government in over a decade

no China has pretty much taken that position too. I read chinese news and they're annoyed with Russia and want both NATO and Russia to stop it. They're really being very reasonable about everything here

“What are the outcomes of sanctions? ... Since 2011, the US has imposed more than 100 sanctions against Russia. Evidently, imposing sanctions remains inefficient in resolving problems,” Wang said. “It will only severely worsen regional economics.”

In another article it says a few Chinese banks including Bank of China are already complying with US sanctions on Russia https://www.bloombergquint.com/global-economics/chinese-state-banks-restrict-financing-for-russian-commodities
