"He noted that Russia is being threatened with arrests of assets of Russian citizens and companies abroad - "just like that, without any sanctions," "in a carpet fashion," "out of spite." According to the politician, "this must be responded to in a quite symmetric manner."

"With arrest of assets of foreigners and foreign companies in Russia based on country principle. And maybe, with nationalization of property of people registered in unfriendly jurisdictions."

Do enough foreign companies and foreigners operate in Russia for this to be something that would dissuade western countries from arresting Russian assets? Either way, I bet there would be a lot of "buh buh but we seized your assets in our countries?!?!?? you can't seize our assets in your country!?!!! that's not fair!! Putin is doing soviet-style communism!"

There’s enough everywhere but yeah a lot of people have been badly burned over the last few decades so it’s probably not super substantial at least for the US. Poland, KSA, or other places I dunno.

Here in the UK we've more than doubled down on investment in Russia since Brexit and we've always done a lot of business there. I've read it's as high as £18bn from BP alone.
