tbh all the problems with 5/VD started showing in 4/FA, on top of 5/VD itself trying to be "slower" without realizing that the core of AC fans just wanted more 3rd gen (3, Silent Line, Nexus, Last Raven) that just wasn't as hideously balanced. 5/VD having a heavy multiplayer focus didn't help anything either.
I'm playing through FA again and i'm just feeling all the dumbing down from 3rd to 4th gen, no real penalties for emptying your energy bar, primal armor is just a rebranded heat mechanic that was from 3rd gen and is still just a "don't get hit in quick succession lol" mechanic, quick boosting is just a 'hit E to rocket jump' that was not worth losing all the depth from 3rd gen movement, oh and because of how the gameplay is designed you have to use regular twin stick shooter controls to get anywhere which also makes 4/FA the first AC that a wider base 'could play'.
edit: And yes, it frustrates me to no end whenever someone thinks the controls for AC before 4 are bad. Like I feel that anyone who does so just didn't try to learn just because it doesn't control like the Adventures of John Halo and Joe Chief Building Inspectors.
