Americans will never learn

edit: the thread. Fortunately there are some people talking about long covid and effects on the immune system in there. But also a ton of brainworms.

I'm vaxxed, my family is vaxxed, majority of our community is as well. That said, this year has been shit. Everyone is constantly sick, plans are getting cancled or delayed every other week. I thought post quarantine was bad due to our immune systems not being as exposed for a couple years, but this year is definitely worse.

yeah unfortunately that whole "immunity debt" thing (in its popular conception) is a myth. Immunity is not a muscle that atrophies when not used. I'm sorry though meow-hug things are increasingly tough these days it feels. 2023 was like the worst year of my life lol. Stay masked and take the precautions you can. I hope things are a bit easier on you this year.

You still probably got Covid, perhaps multiple times, and it is still weakening all sorts of internal systems via endothelial damage and such.

Also, having ever been vaxxed is essentially worthless if it's not kept up-to-date.

Even up-to-date boosters will really only protect you from serious acute Covid, unfortunately. I got the Novavax in October, and had Covid this past month. No symptoms except fatigue, but I am still fatigued a week after testing negative.
