When Feinstein was still alive - Lawrence O'Donnell actually made the argument that senator's aides do all the work anyway. If that's true - then we should skip having senators and representatives and vote for cardboard cutouts. When a bill is debated - cutouts are brought in as symbolic people. But the aides that actually read the fucking thing are there too. And they can debate knowledgably because they actually read the fucking thing.
This is silly - I know. I know we'd still get bad actors like Raytheon perverting things. And then aides would get big heads and they'd get their own aides and we'd be back to the beginning. We wouldn't know their names of the people actually paying attention and doing the work.

And it was obvious before he said a word that he was going to make an excuse because he's a dem shit head. Plus he said it many months ago. ~8 months? On top of all of that - she died not too long after he said it. It's possible the last few years of her life she'd have failed the clock test. It's not even a debatable if a 90 year old should be a member of congress. Of course not! Of course age matters.
