Libs, and the dem establishment especially, are institutionalist to the core. And they think that this kind of argument will work on voters. The institution will govern, and the other guy will wreck the institution... so the choice is obvious.
It's hilarious to me to listen to the lib talking heads say stuff like "Voters need to vote for democracy," by which they mean we must vote for Biden. And then if Biden loses - they'll blame voter apathy. I'm not apathetic. Like many voters I'm actively engaged in not voting for Genocide Joe.

At the briefing that just ended a reporter mentioned that Nikki Haley previously asked for Biden to take a mental competency test.
Jean-Pierre responded that she's "not a medical doctor" and doesn't plan to "opine" on "anything of that nature".
To assauge the age concerns - and questioning - she recalled a conversation she had with one of Biden's doctors last year.
Jean-Pierre said the doctor told her that "because of the president's actions every day and what he deals with ... that shows that the president is very much active and understands what's going on".

About six months ago I remember some dem partisan hack said he met Biden and spoke with Biden's advisors and he was impressed with how sharp Biden was and by the stories Biden's aides told him. Maybe it was Jon Favreau. It was typical of last year's message about Biden's mental acuity. In this year's messaging I note a destinct downward trend in how they speak about Biden. Words like "sharp" are now replaced by whatever this is...

That could be definition of a young guy who just came out of coma but has a bit of brain damage so a reporter says he could still get a simple job and be a productive member of society.
I spoke to a doctor I won't name in a different year and he said Biden is "aware of his surroundings".

That night Lawrence O'Donnell dedicates the entire first half of his show to demanding an end to the "unwarranted attacks on the president's mental acuity". He also states how "another network used drawing ability to belittle the great American and a great American patriotic President Joseph Robinette Biden".

When Feinstein was still alive - Lawrence O'Donnell actually made the argument that senator's aides do all the work anyway. If that's true - then we should skip having senators and representatives and vote for cardboard cutouts. When a bill is debated - cutouts are brought in as symbolic people. But the aides that actually read the fucking thing are there too. And they can debate knowledgably because they actually read the fucking thing.
This is silly - I know. I know we'd still get bad actors like Raytheon perverting things. And then aides would get big heads and they'd get their own aides and we'd be back to the beginning. We wouldn't know their names of the people actually paying attention and doing the work.

O'Donnell has a million shitty opinions and his pathetic excuse-take that Feinstein's age and mental ability don't actually matter is probably only the 2,015th worst take he's ever had. And it was obvious before he said a word that he was going to make an excuse because he's a dem shit head. Plus he said it many months ago. ~8 months? On top of all of that - she died not too long after he said it. It's possible the last few years of her life she'd have failed the clock test. It's not even a debatable if a 90 year old should be a member of congress. Of course not! Of course age matters.
