i just wonder if they could delay people going to Ukraine by releasing the new Doctor Strange movie in the next few weeks

Why do you wonder when you know things would work exactly like that. Just stagger out the release of capeshit, big tiddy animes, another McRib, etc until there's world peace.

for some reason I pictured a German soldier in a bunker underneath a bombed-out building in Stalingrad watching the Elite Eight round while snacking on a sausage

Sitting at a control stick in Langley, but you're actually placing bets on the quarterfinals when you should be doing your drone mission over Kabul.

I'm going to go to Ukraine, after I see the new Batman movie.

Oh, but I really want to see the new Christopher Nolan movie about Oppenheimer. Did you hear he's shooting it in black and white IMAX?

Late summer of ‘23. I'm definitely on my way. Ukraine isn't going anywhere.

I wish I could help but they haven't even started to film the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I'm sorry, I need to know my family and Groot are okay before I make this decision

HBO has already renewed Succession for a fourth season. What was I supposed to do, miss the next tour de force performance by Brian Cox? I need to know who becomes the next CEO of Waystar Royco!

How did these people get SO delusional that they are convinced that heading into this meat grinder is anything but a complete waste of their lives? Is this what popular media is making people believe? That Ukraine actually stands any chance in repelling Russias military? Reading that thread made me very concerned. It's like reading a bitcoin thread, it's all frenzy and no planning, rationality, anything. "Leave today, leave now and you won't regret it!" Jesus christ.

a lot of people will blame propaganda but I think there's gotta be a suicidal element to this behavior. like they're so alienated and bored that even death is a welcome alternative. if they survive, they're "heroes," and if they die, they're martyrs

I don't think a lot of people conceptualize how fucking wasteful and costly war is. Let's assume that the increased gas prices represent $1000 imposition on someone who commutes to work over a year. A fucking war is more like 1/2 your salary, you give up your son, and you have to receive a ration of butter. And THEN you use those taxes to do a friendly fire mortar round on the poor son of a bitch who got sent over there. The $1000 imposition was already enough in this zeitgeist to make a healthy majority want to avoid war even if you call it a no-fly zone. It's just such a fucking mockery of human relations
