I've been listening to them since around 1980. I still love their early stuff. Bono is a pretentious putz but I think the Edge and the drummer (Larry Mullen Jr.) are great.

Yeah I think Lennon, David Byrne, and Bono all were part of an op to steer pop culture away from radicalism during/after the 70s.
