I'm going to be ranting a lot about this show. It's trash and I don't recommend it to anyone, but I'm rooting for Ethan because he seems to be the only normal person. They're going to fuck it up by making him a school shooter, aren't they? (do not tell me)
It’s sarcasm. The unreliable narrator Rue is different from the Rue in the show.
The show made very clear she was not really in control or safe. It’s very clear the characters don’t know what they are doing but feel they should do something.
