Oh, I'm not saying that Rowling isn't the sort of racist you're describing and there are some very sketchy stuff in Harry Potter books, chiefly the whole slave elves thing.
But when people bringing up bank floor ornaments with a straight face, I start rolling my eyes.
Yeah I think it’s more unfortunate than anything. But it does highlight how people are generally blind to how damaging, and invisible, these tropes are that at no point during the shooting anyone notice and thought to remove it and how easily it’s hand waived away. Certainly its not a conscious choice, but it just adds icing on the ignorance cake that’s already going on
