Even if they did epicly own them, what then?
They genuinely believe that laws are magical binding principles and not made up bullshit that the violent man with a gun screaming at them could not care less about.
Yes, they literally believe if you utter the right magic words you're immune to the legal system
:frothingfash: the flag doesn't have tassels on it so this court has no authority!!!!
Sovereign citizens and other forms of pseudo-law like the German Reichsbürger movement can be seen as a hybrid of fascist disaffection and liberal legalism.
On the one hand they are still firm believers in the state and the law. There are rules, good and fair rules they can trust and that work to their benefit. But on the other hand they can see that something is wrong with society. The good rules they believe in is not followed, instead reality is run by a completely different set of rules, rules that gives them DUI's, rules that demands them to pay child support, rules that repossesses their cars and forecloses their houses. Rules that humiliates them and makes them feel powerless instead of defending their rightful positions as privileged white men.
Facing the reality that the rules doesn't work for you usually leads to cynicism and the belief that the law is corrupt, biased and a tool of oppression. Sovereign citizens on the other hand are too wedded to the idea of the law being just and good and reaches the logical conclusion that if The Law is good and of the power that is imposed upon them is bad, then it must mean that those in power does not follow The Law and that there must be some secret law you can unlock to be treated well.
From there on it just snowballs and they will construct a cushion of nonsense and delusions around themselves to feel good in a world that treats them bad.
The best antidote to this is of course class consciousness. The problem with capitalist society is not that the people running it are breaking the real law. The problem is the uneven distribution of wealth, power, respect and possibilities that leaves the majority hurting so a tiny elite can live in luxury.
I grew up in a suburb of Houston, and I know people who could get out of just about anything by simply smiling and waving at unfailingly polite police officer from the front seat of their crazy-expensive cars. It was confusing as hell for me, as my mom was utterly terrified of the police and ingrained that fear in me as early as she was able.
Libertarians, Sovereign Citizens, Tea Party weirdos, QAnoners and the like are just in this liminal space, surrounded by cops who are more-and-more not their friends. This crazy legalist approach to interacting with cops is just a symptom of the transition. They're trying to sort out the "Good Cops" from the "Bad Cops" as these institutions begin to cannibalize their old bases of support.
Katy police literally holding up :us-foreign-policy: up to everyone they pull over
I wanna watch his Woke LOTR response but I think I'm too much of a Tolkien nerd and will feel dunked on
Yup, I tried and I'm too big of a nerd for this one. All white cast isn't necessary for accuracy, especially considering the southern and eastern regions do actually play more into the second age events. It's a big world and you traveled at the speed of walking but cultures moving, intermingling and whatnot is how Tolkien created linguistic realism. So like, not Hitler's wet sream like the Jackson films could end out, but like, in a you're gonna see less white dudes in China kinda way
i don't know what exactly they expect to happen. i think the reality they've created for themselves makes the question of outcomes irrelevant. it doesn't matter to them that law is a question of power, not of wishing really really hard because they're deranged evangelical christians who think they'll get swept up in the coming rapture when the LORD recognizes that they fought the forces of evil with the true holy law of the land. until then, getting to maintain a sense of persecution is positive.
