To quote my 11 year-old, "here we go again.". I am clearly not the asshole if they're violating rule #1 civility.

ungrateful little brats, you brought them into this world amd they dare question your absolute authority over them? spend that college fund on somthing nice for yourself and just hand your children over to the military when they turn 18 and are no longer your problem.

kids these days have no respect.

They won't even say the pledge of allegiance with their dad. That's the level of disrespect children have these days.

you ought to lock them in their room and not feed them until they recite the pledge 100 times.

ought to teach them to appreciate the sacrafice our founding fathers made for us

The pledge is a family event. I'd never use it as a punishment. It's just something we say before special moments.

Tell them if they don't stop crying, you'll send them to live on the border in Trump's cages for kids then they'll really have something to cry about.

I used to say that but now I'm embracing a brilliant strategy of having the republican border policy to prove that they hypocritically don't support it. They actually want something worse. When I explain this to my 7 year-old they say I'm "stupid", which to me is super asshole.

They can't vote yet but we do training drills regularly. Last night in the dad's apartment primaries, Joe Biden got 100% of the vote again. They didn't even vote which to me is what an asshole would do.

Not voting is a vote for Trump, which makes your kids Republicans. You should force them to live in a red state with decaying infrastructure while calling them to laugh at their self imposed misery daily.

I threatened to move to Ohio so they'd have to go there one weekend a month. They didn't even respond to the email.

Sit them down and using a modified Ludovico technique, have them watch 2021 Capitol Riot footage until they're fixed

You and DayOfDoom should become a comedy duo. I hear they still have those in Japan and apparently China. Looks like the Japanese tradition is more of a straight man/funny man setup while the Chinese one (Xiangsheng) isn't necessarily. Honestly it looks like the sort of thing that could be good motivation for learning Mandarin . . .

Yes. You can't make this relationship work. You should lawyer up, hit the gym and leave this relationship, they're clearly toxic and controlling.
